Born and raised in Beijing, China, Monica came to United States to attend high school and has started her artistic journey since then. Her experience of being uprooted from her culture, being forced to navigate between differing ideologies have deeply influenced her work.

Committed to creating compelling narratives and capturing visuals, Monica focuses on individuals who are lonely, isolated, and often seen as unconventional.

She received her BA from University of California Berkeley in Film Studies and Media Studies, and now continues to pursue her passion in directing, writing, and production design in the University of Southern California MFA program.
